If you are into soul or R&B, or even just remotely interested in hearing one of the most stunning voices 'ever' then check out Joss Stone.....she's 16 (16!!) and from Devon and she sounds just stunning....one of those 'natural' talents.

The Proclaimers sang a song which went something like 'And I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more just to be that man who walked 500 miles to be there at your door......
I went to Edinburgh on Friday to see the girls, I left work around midday and got there around 9, we stayed at a hotel and went bowling and had lunch on Saturday. I dropped them back at 4 and got home at 10.30 last night, the milo, reset Friday morning reads a few miles shy of 1000 miles round trip.....we had a good time and it was lovely to see them and wake up with them and hug and kiss them....the fact I spent more time in the car traveling then actually being there is kinda irrelevant :)
I got to bed about 1.30am as I was 'wired' from driving and not too sleepy , and after waking briefly around 7ish actually awoke properly at 11.09.....I rarely sleep in as I find sleeping rather a waste of time (!) but felt like I needed a lay-in.....its also one of those guilt free winter pleasures when its grey and rainy outside to lay snug up to D. and be lazy.
the girls are fine, Bryony seems older and older every time I see her, I think she's growing into herself more, or rather the increase in freedom getting older gives her matches her personality better...she's always one to 'go for stuff' and to 'know best'....she may be a long way from actually knowing best but at least she's getting more andmore opportunities to put her ideas into practice...and to live with the consequences.
Katherine's got glasses and looks very cute and a little older in them. She's ok too, I think she's a lot like me at that age, she keeps things inside a little more, that's partly circumstance and partly a sensitivity about herself and everyone around....I suspect (tho doubt she can vocalise it as such) that she often doesn't feel wholly comfortable with herself, that she says and does things entirely spontaneously but then looks around to see other people's reactions to it as if in some way she's caused embarrassment.
Then again maybe I am reading too much into it, maybe I just miss them so damn much...maybe I just don't get enough time with them to really know them.....but that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess.

Acts of Gord - very funny stories of a 'Puter Game Shop Owner :)
I still can't quite believe that England won the Rugby World Cup - what an awesome result and what a tense match, I thought largely we were the better team but kept giving away possession at key moments and Australia never let up until the final whistle.
I am hugely pleased we came through tho.....the team have worked so hard for so long and have played some awesome rugby over the last couple of years, even if not always in this World Cup.
Have to say am hugely glad we put one over on Australia in their back yard as whilst I respect the country's sporting pedigree their national tactic of sledging opponents in the press etc was somewhat annoying and boring after a while.....tho probably an indication of how much of a threat they knew we were :)
Am just watching the re-runs and am enjoying it a lot more now I know the result - heh :)

A Definition of Saddnes
My thoughts on that day You just slipped away Were that this was the hardest part How could I have known At that dawn of alone That this was only the start
Now cigarettes and booze Can no longer soothe The memory of missing you And my eyes start to sting With the tears held within And each heart beat aches anew
All those lessons in history burden us From an age where we only knew blind trust And leaving the doors to our souls unlocked To now when our hearts and minds are blocked When we were once too young to care To being too old to leave the past back there We took all the twists and turns at pace And the bangs and scrapes with too little grace This learning life spent in crammed revision From one plus one to long division

As D. says an interesting artistic concept......BMW have made some pretty cool films....yeah ok to promo their cars but with actors like Clive Owen an ddirectors like John Woo they are well worth a look-see.
Oh and since stumbling across The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) a few months back I am continuously amazed at how up to date and well researched and quick it is......D. and I while many a moment following the links from actors to films to other actors and so on....its quite fascinating :)

Lullaby
Hush now, sleep now Deep down in the soft down And sleep dreamless sleep Or if not dreamless Let the moon-soft, star-snug night Make your dreams light Like cotton wool clouds or candyfloss For while you sleep I will worry for your cares And cry all your tears And fret at your fears So that your awakening Is as gentle as the sun Breathing light on the new day So hush now, sleep now Night, night

Ok did you ever do biology at school and have to dissect a frog? Actually I never got to do this (phew) but over at Froguts! you can do an online dissection with their 'Virtual Dissection Software' - not wholly suitable for the squeamish but done in the best taste and hey maybe a few schools get to use a few less frogs.....whih is good for them.....laternately uyou can idssect a squid or an 'owl pellet' (wtf???).......best not done a beer queasy stomach I have just discovered.

My head hurts.
And I just don't agree with D. that its because I only had 5 hours sleep as we were at a rather excellent fireworks aprty and I drank a few (!) beers. Personally I thinkit was all the loud bangs ;-)
got up to watch England hammer Uruguay - thought we were starting to look back to our best, and then the All Blacks narrowly beating the Welsh which was hugely exciting - I am really enjoying the Rugby World Cup and am looking forward to the next few weekends of quarter finals, semis and then the final - c'mon England :)

Spirits of love
The souls of the sad
Dance out this tango
In a minor key
Da da da da daaaaah
Take my hand
My dear
My card is marked
With your name
Step as one
This last time
Our final dance
Perfect timing
As the music dies
We take our leave More Of My Poems
