Work is shit but finger's crossed not for much longer - I have an outside chance of a job (outside in that they are taking ages to get their act together and start interviewing!) a 'complicated' verbal off (long storey complicated because I don't trust them to come through with a real offer!) and an interview next week for another.....so we'll see, there's a couple more I've applied for but no news yet!!
This weekend's quite busy, tomorrow is of course The FA Cup Final - go Millwall but also NEC Harlequins are playing in the Parker Pen Final (that sponsorship just doesn't sound right 'Parker Pens' and rugby???) C'mon you Quins :)
Saturday evening D. and I are going to see Dylan Moran's Monster II show in London - should be ace.
And then on Sunday I have some tickets for coporate entertaining at Wasps v Toulouse in the Heineken European Cup Final, dinner, beer, wine etc then the game then more beer YAY!!!!

Ooooh now Blogger's got a new look and feel - nice!!
But I'm not here to talk about that......really cool day today because I got my new company car!!! YAY!!! I put the order in January and it normally takes about 12 weeks but the management then put it all new cars on hold - which was kind of understandable from a business point of view but they then seemed totally unable to make the decisions that needed to be made to get them taken off hold (long boring storey) which ended up costing me £200 in increased tax on my old car and which I moaned about. So it was a surprise to be emailed on Tuesday to say my new car was being delivered on Friday - which means it must have been taken off of hold at least 3 weeks ago - just think how less pissed off I'd have been if they had told me back then rather than fume for another 3 weeks....grrrrr.
Anyhow its lovely, a Metropolitan Grey Toyota Avensis T3-X D4D - which all means its a diesel (cheap car tax) and has alloy wheels, dual climate control, CD, cruise control and extra nice finishings inside.....see:
I was a bit fed up with my last one even tho it was only 3 years old it hadn't 'worn' well and have been really looking forward to getting this one :oD
We also got a box of organic fruit delivered today from Abel & Cole as an experiment. Its a pretty good service, you order a box of fruit and veg - size to suit - and they deliver to the door on Fridays making a selection of whatever they have available. The website gives you a look ahead of the types of produce they are getting in (its all seasonal) and a rather fun smiley system for you to state your preferences. This is all brought on by an article D. read that a lot of 'fresh' veg in supermarkets can actually be several days old, especially if in packaging - they use gases in the packaging to keep them fresh but the problem is that the whilst the food doesn't go off the nutrients in them still break down just a quickly!!! Anyhow we're giving it a go....
This weekend is mostly about chilling and relaxing....no specific plans as yet.

D. got me the new Keane CD as a treat - it rocks :)
Catch up from the weekend - chilled Friday, went to gym Saturday then we went to see Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind which is a beautiful movie, hugely clever played out mostly inside Jim Carey's character's mind as his memories of his relationship with Kate Winslet are slowly erased in reverse order (won't spoil plot by explaining how or why) as he realises what's going on he and 'Kate's memory' try to prevent it and in so doing revisit their relationship....the clever part is that because the erasing is in reverse all that 'went wrong' is removed first leaving ever fewer memories - but the ones when the love and the feelings and the intensity - this is a clever reflection on realtionships and one of many - its a beautiful beautiful film :)
Sunday we had a wedding in Birmingham for friends of D.'s -the service was held in a stately home - Hagley Hall and then we went to Birmingham's Chinatown for a 10 course chinese banquet complete with a Dragon Dance and firecrackers and followed by a disco - it was really good fun and we ate and drank and danced loads.
Well that's that, still mooching around the job market - have a few interesting leads - oh and I get my new car on Friday which will make the frustration a little easier :)

Had a good Bank Holiday weekend. Friday night me and D. chilled, then I was up early Saturday to pick the girls up from the airport. Kate opened some pressies in the car (and the rest back at home) and we stopped off at a cafe for lunch and called into Dad's quickly then I took Kate to a birthday party at someone's she was best friends with when she used to live down here. She had a lovely time and Bryony and I went into town and she did a 'paint-a-plate' which I'll pick up in a couple of weeks time. We then got cakes and went to the lake to chill until it was time to pick Kate back up.
When we got back we all had pizza and chips .... mmmm pizza :)
Sunday we went and picked Dad up and were over at my sister's for a BBQ and a walk along the sea front, the waether was gorgeous, the best day of the weekend. We also did Kate's pressies from Dad and sis and had a birthday cake and watched Finding nemo which is a great film :)
Monday the weather was crap so we went swimming which was ace despite the 40 minute queue to get in, we went on the slides, played hide and seek and mermaids (B and K) and sharks (me and D).....D was an ace shark tho her shark eating shark was a cheat (tho nice)!!! We then grabbed a hasty lunch and I had to take them back to their Grandma's, they went home to Scotland on Tuesday.
Well that's the wekeend, back at work, had lunchwith a mate yesterday and went for beers with another mate last night which was fun.....both had some useful elads for jobs so am going to focus my attention on that shortly :)

Spirits of love
The souls of the sad
Dance out this tango
In a minor key
Da da da da daaaaah
Take my hand
My dear
My card is marked
With your name
Step as one
This last time
Our final dance
Perfect timing
As the music dies
We take our leave More Of My Poems
